About Me

Art Style

I enjoy editorial photography & tend to lean towards more moody, urban and/or retro concepts & styles of editing.

Philosophy

My Philosophy when it comes to Photography is to make every finished photo feel like a scene out of a movie. I want the photos to speak to you and give off an overall vibe or message. As long as I could recreate the ideas that I’m thinking and help others do the same, that’s truly all I care about.

Why Photography??

Hi my name is Adonis Doxilly, owner of Dslr-Don Photography. I started my photography business roughly about a year and a half ago. Before then photography was a hobby of mine but nothing I considered taking seriously until I came to college and started getting into fashion and discovering my style. Naturally I’m very creative so I remember putting different outfits together and building a concept around each outfit & would always make sure whatever I’m wearing matches the occasion or scenery. Two of my extremely creative friends(Brian & JeMaris) not only took fantastic pictures for me but taught me most of what I know in regards to editing skills, angles & lighting techniques. Soon taking photos became almost addictive and started sparking more & more creative interest. I would create hype around each photoshoot drop and release sneak peaks and teasers. Naturally this garnered a lot of attention both from my friends and people around campus and people started asking me to take pictures of them on a regular basis. People were always baffled by the quality of photos I took and how I would go out of my way to make sure their photos look good. Friends, associates and even strangers started encouraging me to take this art form seriously so I did….but slowly lol. Honestly I was very hasty starting off, especially discovering the cost of photography equipment and the amount of knowledge I had to learn. I started shooting with my iPhone X. That phone got me by for quite some time and produced some of my favorite images to this day. For a while I was convinced that I would continue taking photos on my iPhone because with the quality of the iPhones nowadays and my skills in post productions made it difficult to tell that these photos were taken on a iPhone. But I eventually realized shooting on the phone is not professional and invested in my first camera. And that’s where my journey began!! Now that I’ve invested thousands of dollars into equipment, thousands of hours into research & the craft and hundreds of ideas into implementation… I think it’s safe to say that it’s too late to turn back now.
